List of CVEs: -

This module exploits a directory traversal flaw found in A10 Networks (Soft) AX Loadbalancer version 2.6.1-GR1-P5/2.7.0 or less. When handling a file download request, the xml/downloads class fails to properly check the 'filename' parameter, which can be abused to read any file outside the virtual directory. Important files include SSL certificates. This module works on both the hardware devices and the Virtual Machine appliances. IMPORTANT NOTE: This module will also delete the file on the device after downloading it. Because of this, the CONFIRM_DELETE option must be set to 'true' either manually or by script.

Module Ranking and Traits

Module Ranking:

  • normal: The exploit is otherwise reliable, but depends on a specific version and can't (or doesn't) reliably autodetect. More information about ranking can be found here.

Basic Usage

This module is a scanner module, and is capable of testing against multiple hosts.

msf > use auxiliary/scanner/http/a10networks_ax_directory_traversal
msf auxiliary(a10networks_ax_directory_traversal) > show options
... show and set options ...
msf auxiliary(a10networks_ax_directory_traversal) > set RHOSTS ip-range
msf auxiliary(a10networks_ax_directory_traversal) > exploit

Other examples of setting the RHOSTS option:

Example 1:

msf auxiliary(a10networks_ax_directory_traversal) > set RHOSTS 192.168.1.3-192.168.1.200

Example 2:

msf auxiliary(a10networks_ax_directory_traversal) > set RHOSTS 192.168.1.1/24

Example 3:

msf auxiliary(a10networks_ax_directory_traversal) > set RHOSTS file:/tmp/ip_list.txt

Required Options

  • RHOSTS: The target host(s), range CIDR identifier, or hosts file with syntax 'file:<path>'
