Synopsis

The remote CentOS host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The remote CentOS Linux 8 host has a package installed that is affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the CESA-2019:0966 advisory.

- Mozilla: Proxy Auto-Configuration file can define localhost access to be proxied (CVE-2018-18506)

- Mozilla: Memory safety bugs fixed in Firefox 66 and Firefox ESR 60.6 (CVE-2019-9788)

- Mozilla: Use-after-free when removing in-use DOM elements (CVE-2019-9790)

- Mozilla: Type inference is incorrect for constructors entered through on-stack replacement with IonMonkey (CVE-2019-9791)

How to Run


Here is how to run the CentOS 8 : firefox (CESA-2019:0966) as a standalone plugin via the Nessus web user interface (https://localhost:8834/):

  1. Click to start a New Scan.
  2. Select Advanced Scan.
  3. Navigate to the Plugins tab.
  4. On the top right corner click to Disable All plugins.
  5. On the left side table select CentOS Local Security Checks plugin family.
  6. On the right side table select CentOS 8 : firefox (CESA-2019:0966) plugin ID 145595.
  7. Specify the target on the Settings tab and click to Save the scan.
  8. Run the scan.

Here are a few examples of how to run the plugin in the command line. Note that the examples below demonstrate the usage on the Linux / Unix platform.

Basic usage:
