Synopsis

The remote Oracle Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The remote Oracle Linux 8 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the ELSA-2022-1550 advisory.

- net/netfilter/nf_dup_netdev.c in the Linux kernel 5.4 through 5.6.10 allows local users to gain privileges because of a heap out-of-bounds write. This is related to nf_tables_offload. (CVE-2022-25636)

- kernel: use-after-free in RDMA listen() (CVE-2021-4028)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

How to Run


Here is how to run the Oracle Linux 8 : kernel (ELSA-2022-1550) as a standalone plugin via the Nessus web user interface (https://localhost:8834/):

  1. Click to start a New Scan.
  2. Select Advanced Scan.
  3. Navigate to the Plugins tab.
  4. On the top right corner click to Disable All plugins.
  5. On the left side table select Oracle Linux Local Security Checks plugin family.
  6. On the right side table select Oracle Linux 8 : kernel (ELSA-2022-1550) plugin ID 160245.
  7. Specify the target on the Settings tab and click to Save the scan.
  8. Run the scan.
