Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch.

Description

A certain Red Hat modification to the ChrootDirectory feature in OpenSSH 4.8, as used in sshd in OpenSSH 4.3 in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5.4 and Fedora 11, allows local users to gain privileges via hard links to setuid programs that use configuration files within the chroot directory, related to requirements for directory ownership. (CVE-2009-2904)

How to Run


Here is how to run the F5 Networks BIG-IP : OpenSSH vulnerability (SOL15156) as a standalone plugin via the Nessus web user interface (https://localhost:8834/):

  1. Click to start a New Scan.
  2. Select Advanced Scan.
  3. Navigate to the Plugins tab.
  4. On the top right corner click to Disable All plugins.
  5. On the left side table select F5 Networks Local Security Checks plugin family.
  6. On the right side table select F5 Networks BIG-IP : OpenSSH vulnerability (SOL15156) plugin ID 78162.
  7. Specify the target on the Settings tab and click to Save the scan.
  8. Run the scan.
