Synopsis
The remote Debian host is missing a security-related update.
Description
Two vulnerabilities were discovered in the PEAR Archive_Tar package for handling tar files in PHP, potentially allowing a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code or overwrite files.
Solution
Upgrade the php-pear packages.
For the stable distribution (buster), these problems have been fixed in version 1:1.10.6+submodules+notgz-1.1+deb10u1.

How to Run
Here is how to run the Debian DSA-4817-1 : php-pear - security update as a standalone plugin via the Nessus web user interface (https://localhost:8834/):
- Click to start a New Scan.
- Select Advanced Scan.
- Navigate to the Plugins tab.
- On the top right corner click to Disable All plugins.
- On the left side table select Debian Local Security Checks plugin family.
- On the right side table select Debian DSA-4817-1 : php-pear - security update plugin ID 144483.
- Specify the target on the Settings tab and click to Save the scan.
- Run the scan.
