Synopsis

The remote host is affected by multiple vulnerabilities

Description

The versions of MySQL Server installed on the remote host are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the April 2022 CPU advisory.

- Vulnerability in the MySQL Server product of Oracle MySQL (component: Server: Packaging (OpenSSL)). Supported versions that are affected are 5.7.37 and prior and 8.0.28 and prior. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise MySQL Server. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized ability to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash (complete DOS) of MySQL Server. (CVE-2022-0778)

- Vulnerability in the MySQL Server product of Oracle MySQL (component: Server: Compiling (protobuf)). Supported versions that are affected are 8.0.28 and prior. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise MySQL Server. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized ability to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash (complete DOS) of MySQL Server. (CVE-2021-22570)

- Vulnerability in the MySQL Server product of Oracle MySQL (component: Server: Group Replication Plugin). Supported versions that are affected are 8.0.28 and prior. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows low privileged attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise MySQL Server. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized ability to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash (complete DOS) of MySQL Server. (CVE-2022-21454)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Apply the appropriate patch according to the April 2022 Oracle Critical Patch Update advisory.
